Beautiful stinging is better known today as an indoor plant. But if in the rooms many are just looking at it, then how the decoration of the balconies of the end has long earned the title of a luxurious and exclusive accent. An unusually beautiful flowering with bright transitions of colors and no less bright greens of persecution are combined with its rather capricious character. True, the older this summer is, the less he requires careful care. And growing seedlings yourself is very simple.

Torenia.

Description of Toxin

Torenia is one of the most striking and special beautifully flowering summers. At a maximum height of 30 cm, the torrentia forms lush and very beautiful bushes of branched creeping shoots and alternately arranged elegant simple leaves with a solid edge, with its prominent veins, pointed tip and a very bright color.

The flowering of persecution is called a royal sight. Graceful asymmetric velvet bells with a cone-shaped nimbus and a bright spot on the lower lip are scattered throughout the bush like little watercolor treasures. The combination of colors - white, yellow, blue, purple, pink, dark purple, purple - seems even more colorful due to the texture. Blooming torren all summer. After flowering oblong multi-seeded fruit boxes are tied.

Out of 50 types of toxins, which are all interesting plants without exception, less than a dozen plants are used in landscape design. Most Popular toasting fournier (dark purple, stiff-haired and yellow) are distinguished by decorative details, but they have exactly the same requirements for care and cultivation.

All annual garden tolerances are grown mainly from seeds and only in seedlings.

Selection of seeds for sowing

Torenia belongs to fairly common summers, but to grow plants from seeds, you should be responsible for their choice. For toxication, you need to carefully study information about the manufacturer and the characteristics of the variety, the timing of sowing. It is better to choose trusted companies and garden centers, in the good quality of the seeds of which you are convinced.

The price that is too low and the lack of information should be alerted: poor-quality seeds of tolerance come across often enough, surprising with extremely low germination. But seeds from verified producers can be purchased for 2-3 years, without loss of germination (about 98% under optimal storage conditions).

Self-collection of seeds of toxenia, especially from potted and indoor plants, allows you to get a large number of seeds even from one plant. But since fruit ripening requires sacrificing flowering, and almost all varieties are of hybrid origin, it is difficult to maintain their characteristics and achieve the desired result with such propagation. Therefore, more often this plant is grown from purchased seeds.

Sowing toenling seedlings.

Soil and sowing containers

Toenia is sown in shallow large containers or plates with good drainage holes.

The substrate for this flyer can be used universal for growing seedlings. A simple mixture of garden or universal soil for indoor plants with vermiculite or sand is also suitable. For diving, you can use special earth mixtures for geraniums (pelargonium). If possible, a hydrogel can also be added to the soil to stabilize moisture and protect it from drying out. Before sowing, it is advisable to sanitize or calcine the soil.

Sowing seeds

Sowing stalks for seedlings is carried out in standard terms - in late February or in the first half of March.

Torenia is sown according to the standard method:

  1. Containers fill the soil and level it slightly, trying not to tamp.
  2. The surface of the soil is gently moistened.
  3. The seeds of stubble are sparsely spread over the surface and covered with a thin layer of sifted soil or sand.
  4. Crops re-moisturize.
  5. The containers are covered with film or glass and set in comfortable conditions.

Seed germination conditions

For growing seedlings, both temperature and light intensity are important. The optimum temperature for germination is about 23 degrees. If the weather is cloudy or there is no way to place the plant on a bright southern window sill, it is better to organize a backlight. For storing, maintain stable light soil moisture without drying out the soil.

The first germination shoots may appear after 5 days, but mass shoots usually appear approximately 2 weeks after sowing.

Growing plants

Toening shoots develop quite quickly, overtaking all competitors-flyers, before a dive usually takes a very short period. Young seedlings protect against drying out of the soil and waterlogging, conducting accurate irrigation by spraying as the soil dries.

The lighting and temperature for the shoots of this summer leaves the same, but if it is possible to lower the temperature to 18 degrees, you can provide a slightly cooler content. It is better to remove glass or film from containers as soon as possible, as soon as the first shoots appear.

Diving seedlings and care for young toxins

Toenling seedlings are dived as soon as two true leaves are formed. The sooner the transplantation to individual containers takes place, the better. For potting, usually small pots with a diameter of about 10 cm are used. The plant is dived one at a time, rarely in pairs.

Caring for torments after pickling is no different from caring for seedlings, but the plant is transferred to normal watering and kept cool at a temperature of 16 to 18 degrees. A mandatory measure is pinching the shoots, which allows the formation of very dense bushes. Waterlogging and drying of the substrate for seedlings are equally dangerous.

10 days after the dive, you can begin to carry out standard top dressing for storing, which they plan to grow in a pot culture. For ground plants, top dressing is optional.

Seedling hardening

Torenia is very sensitive to hypothermia. For this reason, hardening of seedlings begins as early as possible, but not allowing the temperature to drop below 15 degrees, just taking the plant to fresh air on warm days.

Landing torrents

Toenia cannot be transferred to the garden in advance. Even potted plants are brought to rest areas, balconies and terraces only when the threat of frost has completely passed. Toreni is extremely sensitive to hypothermia and can die from any severe night cooling. Therefore, most often this year-old is put into the garden and transplanted only in June.

Choosing a place for a wonderful summer flyer in the garden or on the terrace, balcony, in the recreation area, you should be very careful about the selection of lighting. Torenia is light-loving summers, but under direct sunlight in the summer they drop foliage. Therefore, in the garden to plant and plant bushes is best in partial shade.

A few more conditions are important for friction.:

  • protection from precipitation and winds (and, if possible, even from weak drafts);
  • fertile soil with good permeability.

The distance when planting in the soil for toxing should be from 10 to 20 cm. In the pots and container compositions, the thorns are planted denser, but still maintaining a minimum distance of 10 cm between seedlings.

After transplanting, seedlings immediately provide regular care. It is impossible to grow tolerance without systemic irrigation, therefore, when planting in pots, and when planting in the soil, this flyer is watered so that the soil is stably moist. Stagnation of water and moisture should be avoided. If possible, in hot weather, spraying should also be introduced into care, which will help maintain the attractiveness of greenery. It is carried out in the evening or very early morning.

All tendencies are fed the same way: every two weeks with complex mineral mixtures. In addition, stubbornness will also need formation: blooming flower stalks need to be cut as quickly as possible, and pinch the elongated shoots to maintain compactness of the bushes.

Propagation of toxenia by cuttings. Rooting chopped cutting cuttings in water. Roots on the cuttings of the head.

Alternative methods of propagation of toxin

If you keep the tendencies as indoor plants or carry them in early autumn to the rooms, you can save the uterine bushes until spring, and then cut the apical cuttings from young shoots and root them in a light substrate under the hood.
